Spain: CMT resolution on CLI substitution Print E-mail
Thursday, 25 March 2004
Image

The Spanish regulatory authority CMT has published an interesting resolution, answering a formal request which was made by Vodafone Espaņa, relating to the presentation of Caller Line Identity (CLI).

Vodafone Espaņa had requested to be allowed to present the CLI of a fixed number or the CLI of a mobile number, depending on the destination (fixed or mobile) of calls made from fixed telephones belonging to corporate customers.

The CMT denied the request, on various grounds, including in particular concerns about effects on competition, and lawful interception.

The full text of the CMT resolution can be accessed by clicking here.

T-REGS is of the opinion that this decision is of wider interest, for fixed network operators, for mobile operators, for entities operating SIM gateways, etc. in Spain and elsewhere in Europe.
