The Maltese Ministry for Transport and Communications has today published a 90-page White Paper, containing its proposals for reforming the telecommunications legislation, so as to transpose the EU regulatory framework for electronic communications.

The Minister announced his intention to put proposals for amendments to the Telecommunications (Regulation) Act Cap. 399 and the Malta Communications Authority Act Cap. 418 before Parliament in March 2004.

The objective of the Minister is to have the full set of legislation published by the 2nd Quarter of this year and brought into force gradually, but by no later than the end of 2004.
