Netherlands: OPTA publishes economic policy note on price discrimination Print E-mail

The Dutch regulatory authority OPTA has published a second document in its series of "Economic Policy Notes", produced by its newly formed Economic Analysis Team.

This policy note addresses price discrimination.

The policy notes are intended to foster discussion. They are not official policy documents and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the Council of OPTA.

The note which was published today concludes that: "not allowing price discrimination may lead to productive inefficiencies," […] but that "promoting market entry by prohibiting price discrimination in the form of selective discounts can be recommended in circumstances where excessive prices are likely and (other) forms of price regulation are not effective".

The policy note can be accessed by clicking here.
