Netherlands: Ministry releases results of consumer survey Print E-mail

The Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs announced the results of a qualitative consumer survey commissioned by the Ministry and conducted by the Dutch Consumer Association.

The survey polled 2700 members of the Dutch Consumer Association as a follow-up to an earlier study regarding transparency in the telecommunications market.

Key conclusions are that:

  • Consumers want independent information regarding tariffs, usage conditions and quality of service for fixed and mobile services.
  • Consumers want more transparency with regard to tariffs and usage conditions, in order to be able to compare offers more efficiently.
  • Itemised billing is viewed as a good way to monitor call patterns and expenditure, but is not viewed as a tool which can be used for making a selection amongst providers.
