Since its foundation early in 1995, T-REGS has conducted numerous case-by-case consultancy assignments in the field of telecommunications regulation. Work carried out on behalf of governments and regulatory authorities includes:
- Policy Papers: Preparation of initial drafts of policy papers, public consultations or regulatory statements, addressing particular regulatory issues, as well as the formulation of an overall policy for the telecommunications sector.
- Comparative Studies: Carrying-out of comparative studies, and specific topical studies on behalf of European regulatory authorities on issues such as general authorisation regimes, interconnection rights and obligations, and rights-of-way.
- Expert Reviews: Commentaries on draft laws and regulations, and on envisaged infrastructure development initiatives of governments.
- Regional Telecommunications Policy: Contribution to the development of a coherent approach to regional infrastructure development, including the possibility of establishing municipally owned passive and active infrastructure.
- Operation of an institutional twinning project regarding telecommunications legislation and regulation in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe (evaluation of requests, selection of experts and debriefing) on behalf of the European Commission.
- Liability issues: Inventory and review of legal and regulatory measures concerning the liability (and limitation of liability) of telecommunications operators for the malfunctioning of telecommunications infrastructure and services.
