EU / Ireland: eCCTF agrees with ComReg on joint dominance in mobile access and origination (Mkt 15) Print E-mail

The Irish regulatory authority ComReg has just issued a statement announcing that the European Commission has endorsed ComReg's analysis of Market 15: access and call origination on public mobile telephone networks.

This is a confirmation of ComReg's finding that Vodafone and mm02 have 'joint SMP', and of ComReg's proposal to impose Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) access on these two operators (and confirmation of the proposal to maintain existing national roaming obligations).

Update: The European Commission (eCommunications Consultation Task Force) letter has now been published, it can be accessed by clicking here.

ComReg's statement can be accessed by clicking here.

T-REGS Note: This is a major precedent, and is highly relevant for other countries, notably France, where similar proposals have been made by the national regulatory authority ART.
